»The New Media Days is an interdisciplinary examination and educational project whose aim is to promote understanding of the impact of technology on culture and society and to present the most important trends in new media art.
»The first edition of the New Media Days Conference is devoted to analyzing the influence of Marshall McLuhan and the Toronto School of Communication theory on media studies.
»The main topics of the Conference are: network society, social networking, web 2.0, intellectual property, open source movement, connected intelligence, social creation and transmission of knowledge, wikinomics (new global economy) and the problem of innovation in culture.
»The conference is free of charge and open to the public. All sessions are to be translated simultaneously into Polish and English. For further information about speakers and lectures go to Program.
»Derrick de Kerckhove, Director of the McLuhan Program in Culture & Technology since 1983, is a Full Professor in the Department of French at the University of Toronto, cross-appointed at the Faculty of Information Studies and the Knowledge Media Design Institute.
